How the score is worked out
Every score on this site comes from the same rule, so a pairing never gets two different numbers on two different pages. It starts with the aspect, which is how far apart the two signs sit on the wheel. A trine, four signs or 120° apart, starts at 95. A sextile, 60° apart, starts at 82. A conjunction, the same sign, starts at 78, and an opposition, 180° across the wheel, at 75. The tense aspects start lower: a neighboring sign (30°) at 58, a quincunx (150°) at 50 and a square (90°) at 45.
Elements adjust it next. Two signs of the same element add 4. Fire with air, or earth with water, add 2. Any other mix takes away 5. Modality comes last. Cardinal with mutable adds 3, two signs of the same modality take away 2, cardinal with fixed takes away 3 and fixed with mutable takes away 2. The result is rounded and kept between 30 and 100.
What the labels mean
95 and up is a Cosmic Match, 88 to 94 Natural Harmony, 80 to 87 a Strong Connection and 70 to 79 a Magnetic Pull. 60 to 69 is a Growth Pairing, 50 to 59 Hard-Won, and anything under 50 is Challenging but Transformative. A low score doesn’t mean a pairing fails. It means the two signs want different things by default and will have to talk about it.

Frequently asked questions
What is the most compatible zodiac pairing?
Four pairings reach 100: Aries and Sagittarius, Gemini and Libra, Cancer and Pisces, and Virgo and Capricorn. Each is a trine inside one element between a cardinal and a mutable sign, which collects every bonus the rule gives.
Does the order of the two signs matter?
Not for the score. Aries with Leo scores the same as Leo with Aries. The order only changes whose point of view the description takes.
How accurate is zodiac compatibility?
It describes patterns that astrologers associate with each sign, not facts about two real people. Treat it as a way to start a conversation about how you each like to work, argue and make up.
